Terra Hiebert

Lab Manager, Papé Family Innovation Center

Terra Hiebert joined the Knight Campus as the Lab Manager for the Papé Family Innovation Center in 2024. She is a biologist by training and received her MSc in Environmental Science from Western Washington University in 2011 and her PhD in Biology from the University of Oregon in 2016. 
   
Hiebert brings extensive knowledge and a strong research network in both academic and industry research. She has managed several labs at the University of Oregon, including for the COVID-19 Monitoring and Assessment Program from 2020 to 2022, which was housed in what is now the Papé Family Innovation Center. Additionally, she worked as an R&D scientist at the UO spin-off startup NemaMetrix (now InVivo Biosystems) as an intern through the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute. She is also currently a research associate in the Sutherland Lab in the Institute of Ecology and Evolution, where her research focus is the interaction between microbial particles and suspension feeding predators in the open ocean.
