Felix Deku is an assistant professor of neuroengineering in the Department of Bioengineering at the Knight Campus. His research focuses on the development of chronically reliable neural interfaces for human use. He is also interested in understanding the physiological effects of neuromodulation and their correlations to functional benefit.

Before joining the Knight Campus, Deku was the head of electrode engineering at Braingrade, a company developing brain-computer interfaces for cognitive enhancement, and neuromodulation therapies for Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia patients. Before that, he spent three years working at Neuralink, a Bay-Area company also focused on machine-human interfaces. In his role as the Director of Microfabrication, Deku provided technical leadership on electrode design innovation, advanced manufacturing technology, electrode material development, characterization and testing, as well as high volume manufacturing.

Deku earned his doctorate and master’s degrees in biomedical engineering from the University of Texas at Dallas. He earned his bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and biotechnology from the University of Cape Coast in Ghana.
