Postdoctoral Scholar, Hettiaratchi Lab

Ruchi Sharma joined the Knight Campus in September 2024 as a postdoctoral scholar in Marian Hettiaratchi’s laboratory. She as received PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Victoria in 2022, following a master's degree in biotechnology from Taiwan and a bachelor's degree in life science along with an MBA in Marketing and Finance from India. Her doctoral research delved into the creation of 3D bioprinted neural tissue models aimed at advancing drug screening and cell therapies for Parkinson’s disease. Ruchi’s postdoctoral work further refined her expertise in developing microfluidic platforms for precise microparticle production, particularly focusing on microspheres for drug delivery applications. Her interest in drug delivery system led her to the Hettiaratchi Lab, where she is focusing on drug delivery vehicles and biomaterial-cell interactions. Outside of her scientific pursuits, Ruchi finds joy in cooking and cherishing moments with her family, blending her passion for science with the warmth of home life.
