Emily Karolidis received her bachelor's of science in kinesiology in 2018 from McGill University, with honors specialization in biomechanics. She continued her studies at the University of Oregon, completing both a master’s of science in interdisciplinary sciences in 2022 (with concentrations in sports product design, biomechanics and statistics), and a PhD in human physiology in 2024 (biomechanics). This integrative approach allows her to take concept through to creation, capable of understanding human performance at a technical level, and able to translate those findings into an applied product setting. Her current work explores the prevention of ACL injury amongst female soccer athletes through the lens of prophylactic footwear solutions. Her work has received multiple footwear awards, and has led to a collaborative partnership between the Bowerman Sports Science Center and a major footwear company, developing cleated footwear suited to female athlete mechanics.
