The Science of Building 2

When the second Knight Campus building opens in March of 2026, students, postdocs, and faculty will gain access to cutting-edge tools and technologies designed to meet the Knight Campus's vision, and dramatically shorten the timeline between discovery and societal impact.

Building 2 will accommodate 17 to 20 research groups focusing on bioengineering and biomedical data science. Lab spaces will be equipped with the top scientific equipment, supporting a wide range of research that spans polymer chemistry, to regenerative rehabilitation, to data science. Some of the core features of this new building will include a dedicated maker facility for students to tinker and learn, core facilities for characterization of cells and tissues, and dedicated computational space for data science.
