Neuroscience Ph.D. candidate, co-advised by Richard Taylor and Bala Ambati, Saumya Keremane has been awarded a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (F31) to support her research on mechanisms and treatments for inherited blindness.
Bala Ambati has received nearly $500,000 in funding from iVEena Delivery Systems, Inc. and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to advance a new therapeutic for nearsightedness, the leading cause of vision loss globally.
The award supports promising scientists pursuing STEM degrees and has funded more than 50 graduate students at leading universities across the U.S.
Bala Ambati, an ophthalmologist and research professor in the Knight Campus will focus on the cornea, the window to the eye, and provide an overview of the history of vision science, as the featured speaker at Science Knight Out

Balamurali K. Ambati will join the Knight Campus summer 2020 as a research professor. He is currently an eye surgeon at Pacific Clear Vision Institute in Eugene, Oregon and is widely recognized for work in drug delivery and ocular angiogenesis.

The Deku Lab 

Founded in 2022, the Deku Lab is a neural engineering research group within the University of Oregon's Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact. Based in the Department of Bioengineering in Eugene, Oregon, the Deku Lab designs materials, devices, and approaches for neural interfacing to develop treatments for unmet clinical needs.
