The Knight Campus IMPACT Team has been recognized with an Outstanding Community Award for its work supporting doctoral and postdoctoral scholars and strengthening the research ecosystem. The recognition is part of the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation’s 2026 Outstanding Research Awards, which highlight notable research activities taking place at the UO.
The IMPACT Team prepares emerging scientists for meaningful careers through mentorship, experiential workshops, and applied training. Led by Senior Director of Academic and IMPACT Programming Nathan Jacobs, the team includes Stacey York, Senior Director of Professional Development & Workforce Readiness; Mark Blaine, Professor of Practice in Journalism and Communication; Annie Zeidman-Karpinski, the Kenneth M. and Kenda H. Singer Science Librarian; Jim Hutchison, Director of the Brewing Innovation Program; and Andrew Nelson, Associate Vice President of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Randall C. Papé Chair in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Associate Professor of Management
A nominator credited the team for exemplifying "the values of leadership, advocacy, and impact," noting that their contributions strengthen the enhance the research enterprise at the University of Oregon and help build "a more inclusive and flourishing academic community."
