October 2020 pedestrian traffic update
The sidewalk along the north side of Franklin Boulevard between Riverfront Parkway and Onyx Street is now open to pedestrians. During the week of October 5, the pedestrian path along the millrace, north of the Knight Campus, will be closed to all traffic to allow for grading and paving to connect to the Knight Campus bridges over the waterway.
July 2020 traffic update
The following overnight closures on Franklin Boulevard between Onyx and Agate streets are slated for the week of July 20 while crews complete work on Knight Campus skybridge:
- First stage: Outer two lanes in both directions will be closed to traffic between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The inner lane in each direction will remain open.
- Second stage: Inner two lanes in both directions will be closed to traffic between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The outer lane in each direction will remain open.
- Third stage: Closures include the EmX bus lane, but any buses will use open lanes of traffic.
September 2019 traffic update
Week of Sept. 9, 2019: Eastbound traffic on Franklin Boulevard between Onyx and Agate streets has been restored to three lanes. The sidewalk under the bridge on the south side of Franklin Boulevard has also re-opened.
Sept. 5, 2019: Eastbound traffic on Franklin Boulevard between Onyx and Agate streets should be restored to three lanes within a few days. The sidewalk under the bridge on the south side of Franklin Boulevard is also slated to re-open very soon, easing pedestrian traffic.
Westbound traffic on Franklin Boulevard between Onyx and Agate streets is expected to continue to be two lanes into the spring.
Road to close overnight for construction of Knight Campus bridge
June 24, 2019: Overnight closures on Franklin Boulevard between Onyx and Agate streets are slated to begin July 8 while crews complete work on a skybridge, an important element of the new Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact.
