A Message from the KCGIP Director on Resilience

 Dear KCGIP Community Members:

There’s no doubt we’re living through a tumultuous period in history. The uncertainty that many of us are feeling can make it difficult to plan for the future, especially when it comes to launching a career. But even in turbulent times, resilient communities and bold ideas can still thrive.

Since its founding 27 years ago, the Knight Campus Graduate Internship Program, then known by a different name, has weathered many periods of economic instability. We were launched during the Tech Boom of the late 1990s, and we’ve endured the Crash of 2000, the Great Recession of 2008, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Through it all, we’ve maintained a 98% success rate in helping students launch careers in science. It hasn’t always been easy, and it’s never perfect, but we’ve shown that it is possible.

Our greatest strength lies in the trusted relationships we’ve built with alumni and internship partners. These connections allow us to be creative and nimble in responding to challenges beyond our control.

While we can’t guarantee a perfect outcome, no one can, we do know this: our success depends on yours. We’re here to support our students, and we’ll continue to adapt and evolve to help you succeed. With purpose and drive, you’ll find ways to chart a meaningful path forward, and we’ll be with you every step of the way.
